Dr. Marlow is a leading Expert in the Field of High Energy Particles and was a founding Member of the Arcturus Space Station. She did pioneer work in experimenting with Zero Point Energy until the Cataclysm.

The injuries went so deep as to negate the innate healing abilities of the Ambysapiens. In order to facilitate this and still be able to continue her work she build a Cyborg-like Exoskeleton.
When S.A.R.A., corrupted by the Cataclysm, started to search for the missing parts of Dr. Marlows work, she decided to oppose her.
